The Library and Documentation Division (LDD), located in Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Block at NIE, NCERT, the Learning Resource Centre and Service Division of NCERT. The library houses both textual and non textual reference materials relating to school education , teacher education such as psychology, environmental education, value education, population education, literature and languages, textbook archive, education commission reports, educational surveys and policy documents etc.

The main objective of NCERT is to promote, plan, coordinate and guide in the field of school education. In other words, the main focus of attention of NCERT is to promote school education and devise ways and means to improve quality of education of school going children as well as teachers.

The role of an institutional library is to help the institution to realise its objective. The main objective of LDD is, therefore, to supplement the efforts of the Council in fulfilment of its objectives.
